I stumbled onto the Fluxus art movement by pure chance. I was listening to The White Stripes album De Steyl while I was writing Risk. Actually, it was pretty much all I listened to. It was on repeat all the time, and it kept my mind fizzing, adding flair to my pen.
Being of an inquisitive nature I used Wikipedia to find out more about the album title and this (as Wikipedia always tends to do) opened up a wormhole to many other interesting things. One of which was Fluxus.
When I read the article, I was impressed. But when I read George Maciunas’ manifesto I felt my mind was soothed, that here was something that I’ve been wanting to say, wanting to express. The works on this page might not be classified as “fluxus” but to me they are. I feel like everything I do is fluxus. And in the end that’s all that matters. One doesn’t need a movement or title or a genre to give your work meaning. To me, that is Fluxus, to you…well, call it whatever you want.
